The current record holder for loudest crowd in history are the fans of the Seattle Seahawks, who cheered so loud that they induced a mini-earthquake. But that level of noise can permanently damage fans’ hearing. (Scott Eklund/AP)
For diehard football fans, nothing beats screaming your lungs out in the stadium alongside tens of thousands of other fans.
There is, however, a downside: hearing loss.
With the battle among fans to be the loudest crowd getting almost as competitive as the NFL itself, hearing experts say it’s time for a serious conversation about the damage caused by crowd noise.

Miracle-Ear Specialist Addresses Southeast Missouri State University Students
Friday, April 18th, 2014We were invited this week to speak to a class of Southeast Missouri State University business students. Kyle R Griffin, a Board Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist representing the Miracle-Ear Foundation went to Southeast Missouri State University on April 17, 2014, and gave the students a lecture about how to protect their hearing. During the lecture the topics of discussion included the prevalence of hearing loss, the dangers of noise induced hearing loss, the social and economic impacts it can have on their lives and how it can be avoided.
MIRACLE-EAR HOSTS A CONTEST FOR “BETTER HEARING MONTH”
Monday, June 4th, 2012May is national “Better Hearing Month”. We believe that hearing health and education is important at all ages. In honor of this, Miracle-Ear reached out to the local school districts to participate in a coloring contest. We would like to thank all of the participating schools, we received over 120 entries!
All entries received a prize. As well as, eight 3rd place winners were awarded a free ice cream from Dairy Queen. Six 2nd place winners received a free bowling at West Park Lane Bowling Alley. The winner of first place received a new Nintendo 3DS!
Miracle-Ear to host coloring contest for kids!
Friday, April 13th, 2012May is Better Hearing Month across the nation and that means we here at Miracle-Ear in Southeast Missouri are gearing up for an exciting month of educating school children about how they can keep their hearing safe. We are kicking off our campaign with a coloring contest, open to children under the age of 10. This contest will highlight the benefits of practicing healthy hearing in a fun and exciting setting!

The REACH program is an educational topic designed to encompass hearing loss causes and promotes conservation of healthy hearing in adults through education. It also explains the testing process and selection/fitting of hearing aids.
The Children’s Foundation explains Miracle Ear’s program for fitting of children with hearing aids at no cost to low income families.
